Update

At around 10:30 the doctors took the donor into the O.R. to procure the liver. We recieved a call around 11:30 letting us know the liver was not good and wouldn't work. Everyone is a little dissappointed but still hoping for the best.

Still waiting...

The surgeon came in with an update. He said they are also going to be transplanting the donor's heart and are working on finding a person who can use it. He also mentioned there was some inflamation in the liver and because of this he wants to do the procurment himself to make sure it is still good. He told us he is very picky in choosing each liver and told us to be prepared for the chance it may not work and we will be sent home. So we are still waiting. . .

Liver Logging...

I had plans on starting this blog while i was on the operating table so i could record my feelings, thoughts and observations. Then i found out they were planning on using anesthesia! When i arrived at the hospital i had so many nurses and aids poking and asking me questions that it reminded me that i had never been this popular. I never knew that the hospital gowns slit went in the back.

Amy has a fasination with the size of the surgeons hands, they are very small. I must be nervous about his operations because my veins seem to be disappearing, they've been hiding from the needles. The nurse shaved my stomach and she had a real cool disposable eletric shaver, she was glad that i didn't have a real hairy belly.

Well i'm just kind of sitting around waiting for this liver, it's a little nerve racking, but mostly i'm tired because i didn't get much sleep last night. At 12:30 last night they called me and told me they had a liver for me and that they would call in the morning for sure, So this morning we waited and waited.
